Entry Procedures

Entry at Nursery

Firstly, we always encourage families to come and visit us to get a feel for life in our Pre-Prep to see if we are the right fit for you and your child. We welcome visits and offer guided tours for interested families during the school week to experience the ‘Pre-Prep’ in action, or you are welcome to attend one of our school Open Mornings.

Keble is delighted to offer full day nursery provision from September 2023. Children are welcome to join our Nursery from the September after they turn 3 years old. We are not a selective school and therefore do not assess children on entry into our nursery although we do invite parents and your child to an informal meeting whereby play-based opportunities will be provided to get to know both the family and the child to ensure Keble is the best fit for your child’s needs. As per our Admissions Policy, we require children to be fully toilet trained.

To support a smooth transition into the nursery and reception class, home visits are offered from the staff working in the EYFS in the term prior to your child starting. If your child is in a previous setting before attending our EYFS, we will contact the pre-school to ensure important information around your child’s development is discussed to ensure a smooth transition.

We also offer ‘Play and Stay’ sessions for our new families before the children start whereby children will have the opportunity to meet their new peers and parents will have the chance to get to know each other. This enables the children to become familiar with their new Early Years setting. A parents meeting is also planned into the transition schedule during the summer term, to provide you with information around routines and teaching and learning in the EYFS.

If your child is offered a place, the Offer letter will include an Acceptance form and a copy of the Terms and Conditions. Your child’s place will be confirmed upon receipt of the signed Acceptance form and deposit of £1000 which will be refunded at the end of the pupil’s final term at school.

Entry at Reception

If the Headmaster feels that your child would benefit from a Keble education and that you as parents are supportive of the school’s ethos and aims, he will make an offer of a place to the family. The offer letter will include an acceptance form and copy of the Standard Terms and Conditions. Your child’s place at the School will be confirmed on receipt of the signed acceptance form and deposit of £1000.00 which will be refunded at the end of your child’s final term at school.

Later in the year we will request a report from your child’s nursery school. We will also invite you to come in one evening during the Summer term to talk you through the routines and procedures. You can also visit on one afternoon with your child, where they get to meet their future classmates.

Entry at Other Years

We do have occasional places in other year groups with competition particularly fierce at the end of Key Stage 1.

At whichever stage you are interested the procedure is the same. You should obtain an information pack and register for the year group you desire. We will then contact you to arrange a day when your child can spend some time with us, usually a half or whole day where they will join a class and participate in a lesson. It is normal for you to have a tour of the school with the Headmaster on the day you bring your child for the visit. We ask you, at this stage, to bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and most recent school report. We may also contact the school to gain further information.

Shortly after this visit the Headmaster will write to advise whether your application for a place has been successful. If your child is offered a place the offer letter will include an acceptance form and copy of the Standard Terms and Conditions. Your child’s place will be confirmed on receipt of the signed acceptance form and deposit of £1000.00 which will be refunded at the end of the pupil’s final term at school.
